HUMANS OF JJLHS
(Real People. Real
Stories.)
In a busy moving
sphere of endless forces, unbalanced equilibrium and broken blades, supports
underneath concretes are often enervating – losing the qualities of each
mounting substance. Each composition is in need line to thicken certain
foundations and bases to align blocks of hope, strength, and perseverance.
Lunarians are
magnified, by vision and mission, as forwarding appellations toward opening
doors of tomorrows, closing blinds of darkness and sweeping dusts of the
interrogatives. The rooms they once called "home" are living
witnesses on how slowly each tear drops in each eye as they are preparing to be
submerged into deeper oceans. Perspiration and starvation are common household
names.
Passing years are
inevitable as individuals headway for their desired pavements. Juan, for year
2011, Pedro, for year 2012, Maria, for year 2013. Names that stand out in bold
letters while his is still in italics. He is a living spectacle on how the
institution progresses from cores to crusts. From thins to thicks.
It is unavoidable to
grasp all strands without making your hand, numb. Each fiber represents dreams
that are in the process of converting into realities. Our holding tools are
already in the verge of letting go, the two - way forces now became one.
Never.
As he holds the other
side resulting into counterpoise.
“Yung nag debate sila kung may pagkakaiba ba ang a minute at 60
seconds”
hilariously remembering comedic mishaps about his “kumpares”. “Nagsaksakan na nga yung mga ‘yun kasi yung
isa nakainom, tapos hindi nagpatalo, buti wala namang nangyaring masama”.
His response when asked, “What was your
most memorable experience working at the academe?”
He is a driver, a
utility worker, a maintenance man, a cleaning personnel, a worker, an alumnus
and a solid embellishment of a father.
Who is he?
“15 years”. Two–figured occupational span digits was uttered upon asking
the first question, 'how long have you
been serving the institution?', “Since
June 9, 2003 ako nagtratrabaho rito” reminiscing his memories whilst
smiling and glancing at the moving students. “Actually, alumnus ako rito” he decided to give back and work at
his educational center. Balancing choices on a scale wasn’t a piece of cake for
him as he had a job prior to his current one. The all – around man, simply be
called, Kuya Reyman, narrated short descriptions on how he landed to his
present source of means. “May sinundo si
Mr. Cortez sa bahay [pertaining to his, Kuya Reyman’s house] tapos kailangan daw ng utility worker”
from that moment, lights flickered and an idea came to light, “tinesting ko lang kung magwowork at nag
work”, Ma’am Barcelona, ex – principal of the institution he currently
works to, asked him if he was serious, “tinanong
ako ni Ma’am kung bakit daw ako papasok dito eh may trabaho pa raw ako rati”,
Kuya Reyman never confused his decision for the past job unmentioned was
temporary. He made a wise choice and moved to a permanent one – landing to his
current job.
One of the reasons why
he stayed at the academe for extended periods of cycles was the ease of
benefits he gets by becoming a government worker, “mas magaan yung workload, tapos ‘pag government worker ka kasi,
maraming benepisyo, tapos hindi mahirap”. The benefits Kuya Reyman gets are
automatically endowed to his own family, 6 children, partnering with his wife.
Stating titles, Angelica, the eldest, Angeline, Michael Angelo, Angel Anne,
Mark Angelicum, and Angelique, the youngest. All of them are searching for the
same light. “Yung panganay ko, Senior
High School Student na, yung pangalawa hanggang pangatlo, Junior High School
students tapos yung pang – apat, nasa elementary, tapos yung dalawa, maliliit
pa”.
Comparing his generation to the current, his answer was
unforeseen, “mas mababait yung mga bata ngayon kumpara before” basing solely on his
angle, “yung tipong kukurutin mo pa sila
para sumunod, hindi pa rin sila sumusunod, unlike ngayon, ‘pag kinurot mo,
susunod na” Kuya Reyman articulated.
The father of 6 is
versatile. He is payed less but does more. He is a driver, “Reyman, pahatid nga ako sa D.O [Division Office]”, “Reyman, sa “insert venue” tayo’, may laban
yung bata”, “Reyman, sa gan’to”,
not just that, he is also a maintenance guy, “Reyman, yung electric fans sa second floor, Room 201, hindi ayos, ayusin
mo”, “Reyman, yung ilaw sa Coop,
sira, palitan mo”, “Reyman, yung
pintuan, bakbak na yung pintura” this is just a snowflake on an iceberg. He
does even more. He doesn’t whine nor bleat for he believes that every gesture
that he will do, he dedicates it to his family. Every drop of sweat being
released by his glands upon doing jobs beyond his title, he never complains
instead, he smiles and stands up proudly. “Kapag
napagod, pahinga kaunti tapos trabaho ulit”, the driver doesn’t have space
for complains. Every day is business day. “
’Pag nga absent ako ng isang araw, feeling ko, one week na ‘yun”
Whatever offerings,
requests, or commands each entity of the school throws at him, he accepts them
wholeheartedly. Rapid. As he makes his way to make them possible.
Kuya Reyman’s devotion
to his craft is beyond stupendous and imaginable. Each praise is truly, well
deserved.
He considers Sir
Tejada as his hero at the academe for he bestowed Kuya Reyman with the skills
he, in current times, still using. “Siya
yung nagturo sa akin about Welding Works and Electrical Works” his smile
turned into a inverted one upon narrating “sana
hindi siya naaksidente”. His ultimate ‘bayani’ is no other than his wife, “Misis ko, kasi siya yung nagtataguyod sa
mga bata most of the time, kasi nasa school ako eh”
With how industrious
Kuya Reyman is, he passes his message of hope for the Lunarian Community
leaving “ ‘Wag magpasaway, mag – aral
nang mabuti para sa future maging professionals.
Kuya Reyman Herrera
has been consistently breaking ceilings for his loyalty and devotion to his
occupation – still, bearing in mind quality above quantity. A trait we should
admire him of.
As the conclusion of
another academic year nearly approaches, let us clench his stand point about
“kasipagan" and "dedikasyon"
